Gunner began his life at Morning Star Farm in California. He barely missed the Triple Crown (in Final Furlong). After several years on a stud farm, it became apparent that his get were not fast enough for racing standards so he was sold to Tadhg Barclay as an Eventing mount. After successful outings with Tadhg, Gunner was ultimately sold to Westmont Stud to finish his career in the show jumping ring.
