Located far away from the bustle of city life,
Vaillancourt
sits in the middle of the idyllic region of Provence, France. The local town, Vailland, was built as a bastide, a fortified medieval town for those no longer indentured to serfdom. The nearby château was built in the 14th century as an abbey. Having fallen into ruins, it was heavily renovated in the 18th century to serve as the summer house for the Marquis de Vailland. He much preferred the provençal heat to his home in the north. Today the château and its property has been restored as a premier equestrian facility. The stables specializes in breeding Warmbloods and Knabstrupper sport horses for jumpers, dressage, and eventing.
